Kamuikei Site

The presence of huge banyan trees reinforces this impression. No dating has yet been done. On the other side of the trail lies another restored tohua, that of Tahakia, and a few pae pae. This was the site of the Keikahanui warrior clan. An explanatory sign has been installed, but in the absence of signposting, it's not easy to find certain remains on your own, notably the superb petroglyphs that adorn two large stones on the Teiipoka site; they depict human figures, birds, dogs, turtles, concentric circles and fish (including a regalec, which resembles the mahi mahi).
