Huahine is located 66 miles northwest of Tahiti, in the Society Islands of French Polynesia. Formerly known as Matairea, Huahine consists of two islands connected by a bridge: Huahine Nui (the larger island) and Huahine Iti. The main village of Fare is located in the northern part of Huahine Nui. Close to the islands of Raiatea, Taha’a, and Bora Bora, Huahine is an ideal destination for those looking for tranquillity and authenticity.

Getting here and getting around

You can fly directly to Huahine from Tahiti or Moorea. The flight takes 40 minutes. You can also get there by ferry from Tahiti in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Once on the island, you can rent a car or motor scooter to visit the various villages, beaches, and archaeological sites. Huahine is quite small, so you can easily tour it by bike or e-bike.
