Huahine is located 66 miles northwest of Tahiti, in the Society Islands of French Polynesia. Formerly known as Matairea, Huahine consists of two islands connected by a bridge: Huahine Nui (the larger island) and Huahine Iti. The main village of Fare is located in the northern part of Huahine Nui.
