Celebrate Chinese culture in idyllic surroundings
Each year, the chinese community in The Islands of Tahiti waits impatiently for these festivities which augur a new beginning. They wish each other good fortune and welcome the arrival of the animal that represents the sign of the zodiac for the new year. To celebrate, there are colorful performances of traditional chinese dancing, including the famous dance of the dragon, accompanied by cymbals, drums and firecrackers. The festivities end with a spectacular lantern-lit parade through the streets of Papeete.
